I’ve got a blog. It took a whole lot of poking, prodding, pesting and other pesky verbs to get me around to it, but here it is. It’s boring right now, but I’ll get around to adding more stuff as I think of it and then get around to it… I promise! I have a gallery and a lovely round robin that’s about to start up that I *must* show off here as well as occasional spooky stories about being the mother of twins born in the year of the dragon.

So, what do I have today that’s bloggable? Today my fabric arrived from Italy! *insert a happy dance here*

What fabric do you ask? Some lovely linen from Passione Ricamo on which I will be doing a silk conversion of my favorite Sara Butcher work of all time, Guardian Angel.

The silk conversion for this is proving a bit of a mathematical challenge for my blondeness so I’ve decided that my DH, who has decided that he’s going to be an astrophysicist when he grows up and is currently in college to do so, is in need of the challenge. I have the floss usage numbers from Heaven and Earth Designs with the numbers based on the stitcher using DMC and stitching with 1 strand over 1 on 25 count. (DMC floss skeins are 8 meters in length.) I am looking to stitch with 3 strands of Eterna silk (which come in 5 meter skeins) and stitch over 2 threads on 32 count linen. I know, I know… my finished product is going to be HUGE, but she will be very shimmery and beautful and anyone who has visited my home knows I have plenty of wall space!

So I am not *too* anxiously awaiting a nice little formula to plug into my Excel spreadsheet to whip up the rather large number of skeins of Eterna silks that I will need for Guardian Angel… because as much as I would love to start her, I really need to get some other things done first.

Please pardon any quirks, bugs, snakes, dragons or other anomalies that you may see here until I figure out exactly what I’m doing… it is my first real entry afterall!
