Where to start? I’ll start with saying, I have a finish, I have a finish! Yay me! *dances around with glee* Oh, you want to see a picture, do you? Well, you’ll just have to wait, because it was only just this afternoon that I mailed it and some other goodies off to it’s recipient. She’ll get it in a week or so and then you can see pictures. I tried a new finishing technique created by Judy Odell, and the amazing result totally surprised me! I highly recommend her finishing books because they are well-written and they work! I’m terrified of finishing my work because I always think I’ll botch it.

On to the naughtiness… it wasn’t even me being naughty this time, harumph! It was Kat! Today we visited our LNS and she led me to believe she was buying herself this Spectral Butterfly Blackwork kit from Berlin Embroidery Designs only to spring it on me in the parking lot. I told her “No, I’m not doing it!! I have Medieval Majesty to stitch.” But no, she would not be swayed. So, once I finish this, I will have it framed and I will make sure she finds a nice place to hang it on her walls! (BratbratbratBRAT!) Thanks, Kat! *Hugs!*

And finally — tomorrow we’re off to Tampa, Florida for a long weekend to help a dear friend of 20+ years celebrate his 50th birthday. Being as this morning Autumn decided to arrive in a very cold, overcast and windy way, we’re all quite happy about some 70+ degree temperatures and sunshine. This will be our daughters’ first ride on an airplane and we’re hoping they’ll do well!

Speaking of which, I suppose I should go do something with this list entitled “Things to pack for Florida” that I wrote earlier. It’s only 12 hours until we’re leaving for the airport…

Oh… and one more thing… Happy Birthday, Kat! You didn’t think I was going to let THAT slide on by, did you?

Tomorrow our daughters are celebrating their 7th birthday with a party at Ajax Amusements. They’re looking forward to it, some of their parents are looking forward to it, some of our friends are looking forward to it and we are too. While I do occasionally enjoy setting up games and such, this year we’ve got *gasp* boys at the party and doing all girly-type stuff just won’t do! It turns out that I also occasionally enjoy just having to show up with cake, plates-et-all and goodie bags and leaving the rest to others.

Sooooo, this year I decided that I’d make the cake. Not from a box… from scratch. I can pick out a boxed cake in a single nibble and they just aren’t what I grew up with. Icing is the same thing. So, aside from the bit of chocolate icing I used, the cake and icing is all home made.

Lots of thank you hugs to Kat for coming over today to help with the decoration and assembly!

Here’s the cake (click right)… and it’s all based on the game Candyland. The idea was not mine, we saw it in a cooking magazine while at our stitching weekend in WVa.

The pathway is Starbursts, with a Halloween forest, then a forest of Twizzlers topped with Kissables, then a sea of mini marshmallows, followed by a gumdrop forest, a fruit rollup walkway outlined in yellow Dots, a forest of Dum Dums, then a mud bog of peanut butter cups covered in chocolate fudge icing and then finally you make it to the ice cream cone castle complete with a blue rock candy moat! Aside from the sticks in the lollipops, everything else on and in the cake is edible. Here’s hoping that we get it to the party in one piece!

Happy Birthday, my little darlings! *smoochies*

So there I was, making fantastic progress on Nancy’s RR… I was over 200 perfect little Xs in when I noticed something in the stitched square above mine. Frantically, I grabbed the journal that accompanied her RR.

I smacked myself on the forehead.

I had stitched all of the Xs in the wrong direction!

*insert primal scream here*

I’ll unleash the frogs tomorrow. *grumblemuttergrump*

I told you reading was hard!

We’re back from CATS and did a good job of filling up the trunk of Kat’s car! Jenni picked up the least of us all, but she did find a few things and did lots of catching up with friends on The Wagon. I met lots of new people *waves* and promised to post (which I already did!) and not be a stranger.

So, what did I buy, you ask? Well, Jenni and Kat and I did a good job of making sure we all bought stuff even though the number of vendors was small. So here’s my list:

“Bead Embroidery: The Complete Guide” by Jane Davis – What an awesome book this is! Although I can tell you now that you will never see me adding beads to picots!

A new chart from Enchanting Lair called “Dragonsheart” – it’s not on their site yet and we left our digital camera in PA (we hope) so I can’t post a picture. *sigh*

All three of Stacey Tippin’s cute kitties, “Tis the Season,” “Harvest Time” and “Kitty Love

The Cat’s Whisker’s “Cherry Blossom Spring

Some skeins of Jo’s lovely silks for Long Dog’s Rosemarkie (you’ll just have to wait until I start this to see the colors! Nyah nyah!) Oh, and an Oops Pack of silks… I finally broke down and bought one after three years of skipping it. *grins* (As an aside, I saw some pretty new things on the Long Dog Samplers page I’d not seen before… however, no more new purchases for me!)

From Brittercup Designs, “Harvest Hunt,” “Britty Kitties II” and “Britty Kitties III

Picture this Plus is selling charts now. Have you seen the !? Who Knew ?! silhouette series? I picked up “Wild Fairy Light” and some 40 count Fresco linen to stitch her on. 28 Fresco is called for, but the 40 count piece was much cooler looking. I can already hear some cooing over the coolness of some of these charts! Ship ‘em to me and I’ll send them to you so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of postage! It’s been a while since some of you have done some US stashing! *looks innocent*

Liz Turner Diehl was having a show special of buy-two-non-2007 charts and get the third one free. So Kat and I banded together (since she didn’t have either of the kits we wanted) and got three charts. The chart I picked was Pollyanna’s Summertime Lamplighter Knot Garden. The picture does not do it justice. It’s very pretty!

The next thing is from Rouge du Rhin. I can’t post a link directly to the picture of the chart I bought, but if you click here and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you’ll see “Monogramme Pour Manon.” That’s it. It was pricey at $20 for that chart and the whole alphabet with it, but I really liked it and I can never have too many pretty alphabets, right? RIGHT?

We had an interesting experience in the Silver Needle booth. It was packed. It always is. This year, I wanted to hunt down the chart for Just Nan’s Crystal Roses. Kat and I were oozing our way between the crowd into the Just Nan corner of the massive booth and found the bin with the charts in it. There was a woman standing there with a clipboard and those glasses that librarians tend to wear with a really fancy string of beads to make sure she didn’t lose them. She was surrounded by other women who were asking her the usual questions about charts and floss and beads and fabric and she was answering. Kat reached over to unobtrusively grab a Crystal Roses chart for me just as this woman set her clipboard down and they collided a bit and she (Kat) jostled the woman’s clipboard which resulted in Kat receiving quite a scowl. Kat apologized, found out that the chart she wanted was sold out (the story of Kat’s day at the show, I’m afraid. :( ) and off we went. Later in the show, we found out that the scowling woman was Nan herself. Gee, scowled at by Nan… if I had known that I may just have put that Crystal Roses chart back.

My final items are the 2007 JCS Ornament Issue (there is this awesome blackwork kitty in there!), a really cool bag with cats on it, a Stoney Creek book with ballerina fairy on it and a funky tape measure.

Oh, and something for my Halloween Exchangee. *grins*

WHEW!

Back to June, anyway, and all thanks to Mike! We’ve got a new host server and I couldn’t use the same old look so I have a new one of those, too! In the meantime, I also have a new gallery to which I will be uploading old pictures and new pictures. I do have a new finish, but as it’s for a Halloween exchange, I can’t go about spoiling the surprise!

Jenni has a new look too and isn’t it cool? The coolest thing there has to be the new nursery and the new face that we’re all excited about meeting this December!

It’s a short week for me as on Friday, Jenni, Kat and I are off to Hershey, PA for CATS which is rumored to be the last time it will be happening. So we’re off to look for stitching goodies and chocolate, of course!
