If you see a mushroom in your lawn, don’t be smushing it, there could be a fairy taking shelter there!

I’ve actually got some gobbeldygook to blog about today. Tonight I’m treating my sister-in-law (*waves to Kim*) to a concert of one of her favorite groups, Celtic Woman. While perusing her iPod one day, I noticed she had a whole lot of their music. So, when I got the calendar for the summer concerts at Wolftrap, which is about ten miles or so away from me, I confirmed with her that she really did like Celtic Woman, and then ordered a pair of tickets and sprang the surprise on her. That was a few months ago. I have, since then, been threatening to eBay the things since this is one of their only performances in Virginia and the tickets are sold out. She’s been making these “Nonononononono!” sounds when I keep telling her about the really awesome shopping sprees we can go on after I sell the tickets, but she’s not getting into the idea. *looks innocent*

Next up… Mike and Kathie are back in the country and on their way home! Their baby Sheba has missed them lots! Although she’s been quite pampered and spoiled like the queen she is, she has been sitting on our front lawn and looking wistfully up the street for their car and then down the street and her house. Soon baby, Mommy and Daddy will be home very soon!

I have a stitchy picture… I’ve completed half a page (the top half) and therefore, one third of the topmost band of Spanish Rouge.
I’m stitching this with the called for Vikki Clayton silks and I positively love this chart! I did put it away so I can finish Jan’s RR.

And finally, I have an appropriate floss toss to share as it’s Fairy Day. Someone *coughKathiecough* decided that she wanted to stitch “The Night” and that I had to stitch a PR with her, so after weeks of agonizing (and pesting Fudgey) about fabrics, I’ve chosen Silkweaver’s “Wandering Ivy” and here’s my toss!
I’m quite psyched about starting this. BUT, just in case she’s got a Chatelaine start urge, I’ve also got my fabric for Mystery X. Nyah nyah! I lined up all my duckies while she was visiting all the Mediterranean wonders of the world.

On that note, I best go spiff up for the concert… my guess is that I’ll be upstairs, dressed, and have dinner made before my sweet SIL is out of the shower. You can’t hit me, Kim, I still have time to sell your ticket…

Wednesday is my busiest day of the week. Today was even busier as I had a 9:30am PTA meeting (with end-of-the-school-year elections for next school year) and added in the fun of my having to remember to not park in our garage as we were having our driveway resealed. Don’t laugh, it’s hard to remember my name on Wednesdays!

DH is out of town… so it was all up to me to wake up, sneeze a few squillion times (a very appropriate Vicky-ism) thanks to the outrageous grass pollen counts around here, get the girls off to school, make Mike and Kathie’s dogs go bonkers because I rang their doorbell (oops!), head to the PTA meeting at school which lasted forever, do a boatload of “paperwork” (it was all electronic, but still just as tedious), head back to school to do my weekly stint in Maggie’s computer lab, do that kiss and ride pick up thing with the girls in order to get to Lindsey’s ballet class in time (the bus is too late to make it), stop at the grocery store because the aforementioned paperwork took too long… fix dinner, and then help with homework, spelling and reading.

Through the whole day, I have had this blistering headache at my temples. I took ibuprofen for it twice today and it refused to go away. About half an hour ago, I took the headband I was wearing out of my hair and whaddya know, the headache is all gone. *rolls her eyes* Can you say dingbat? I KNEW you could!

On a different note, I was enabled last week. Could it have been something small? Heck no! I don’t ever get enabled with something small… it’s 429 x 429!
It’s from Nouveau Encore and called “Tribute to the Old Masters.” I will be stitching it on 36 count “Misty Rain” Vintage linen from Lakeside Linens (wohoo, I remembered the word, Kathie! *bounces*) with Belle Soie “Elegant Eggplant” silk which is a gorgeous purply-blue sent to me by the same adorable imp who enabled this whole chart purchase in the first place. {{{Fudgey}}}

I have now tucked my little darlings in for the night and am off to go take a looooong bubble bath. And no, I’m not putting my hair up with one of those blasted hair bands! *giggles*

Actually, the designer is from Thailand, but she named the piece Spanish Rouge and it’s been flicking my brain for months now. *swoons and fidgets* Aside from AMAP 8, which I don’t technically count as a sampler, I don’t actually own any. (Did everyone pick up AMAP 8 yet?) Ink Circles has released two new samplers… one in red and one in purple. Both are purdy… “I still do” is the one I’ve put on my wishlist.

I have one stitchy picture.
My coordination and stitching speed is finally starting to come back *cheers* and I was able to finish the top row of blocks on this page of Selina Fenech’s “Tomboy.” I actually can see a leafy thing! Stitching in greyscale isn’t as easy as it looks since most of the colors, aside from the occasional green or lavender, look the same so you have to be meticulous about your counting.

Next week my girls are off for their spring break and I’m hoping the weather will be nice so I can take them to the National Zoo!

Catherine and Stephen are due to welcome their bundle of handsomeness, Noah, into the world today so I’m sending lots of happy thoughts and hugs their way!

So one of my six-year old daughters told me as we were making a list of what we needed to make her “Star of the Week” collage for school.

“Violet, right.” I said as I crossed out the “purple sparkly paper” and changed it to “violet.” Now that she can read, she knows when I don’t make the changes and sits and patiently waits until I do.
“I’ve changed my mind, I’d like the main poster to be violet.”
“Poster violet, got it. And the rest pink?” (See? This is why this Mom writes everything down before leaving the house!)
“Yes, please. And sparkly! Very sparkly! I love sparkly!” She says and starts pirouetting around the kitchen.

So we did all the layout and cutting and writing and gluing in the kitchen, and Nikki, who has layed on this thing every chance she can, is covered in pink and silver glitter along with Lindsey, Maggie, Scott, me, the table, the floor… heck, the whole house.
You couldn’t come into my house this week and not leave without having glitter on you somewhere. *grins* We just finished it and tomorrow, my sparkly violet and pink girly girl will present her collage to her class mates. If you’ve ever read Megan McDonald’s Judy Moody series, this is akin to the “Me Collage” that Judy had to make in Mr. Todd’s class. Even if you don’t have a child reading these books, I recommend them, they’re a blast to read! I enjoy them a whole lot and can’t wait until Easter when the girls will find the latest books in their baskets! *bounce*

Today we bought the girls their first pets that are all their very own. *gulps* We went to a pet expo with Sheba and Max… oh yeah and their servants, Mike and Kathie *giggles* and came home with a pet fish for Lindsey, who she has named “Fishy” and a pair of frogs who Maggie has named “Sheba” and “Max.” The critters are each in their own self-sufficient ecosystems with special rocks, snails and bamboo and we only need to change half of the water in the tanks (spring water only) once a month and give the tank a scrubbing and a full (spring) water change every three months. Lindsey wanted a picture of Fishy for her collage and, of course, we learned that Fishy is rather shy… unless Lindsey is around. She comes out of hiding for her. I guess she likes curly blonde hair… or maybe it was the purp… violet shirt she was wearing!
